Frequently Asked Questions
Registration Questions:
IT'S NOT SHOWING THE EARLY DEADLINE DISCOUNT
Q: I'm signing up before the Early Deadline but it doesn't show the Early Deadline discount. Why is this so?
A: It will not credit the discount until you reach the payment screen.
COACH REQUEST
Q: When I register, can I request a coach?
A: Unfortunately not. The only request permitted during registration is a "Sibling" or "Friend" request.
FRIEND REQUEST
Q: What's a "Friend" request?
A: OGS allows friends to play together if the request is a direct match. In other words, if your child has a friend in the same age bracket he/she wants play with, each child must request one another under the "Friend Request." If both children request one another, it is a guarantee that both will be on the same team so long as all other OGS conidtions are satisfied.
MULTIPLE FRIENDS WANT TO PLAY TOGETHER
Q: There are 2 or 3 of us who are good family friends and we want our children to play on the same team. Can that be done?
A: YES and NO. Let us remind you that a "Friend" request is guaranteed when two children request each other and it results in a "direct match." OGS does not allow triangle "Friend" request (i.e. - Tabitha requests, Jason requests Abby, and Abby requests Tabitha). The way to make such a request work is for parents to volunteer to coach together. Coach's kids should not request each other because they are already guaranteed to be on the same team. Each coach's child should request a friend. This allows for at least 4 kid friends to play together.
DOES MULTIPLE KIDS MEAN MULTIPLE PRACTICE NIGHTS?
Q: We want to sign our kids up to play but don't want multiple practice nights. Is that possible?
A: No problem at all if you choose "Sibling" request and each child request one another. If you have more than 2 kids, choose "Sibling" request for each and match accordingly. Be sure to follow-up your registration with a call or email to OGS to ensure we understand that you have multiple kids that need to practice on the same night.
Post-Registration Questions:
WHEN WILL I HEAR FROM MY COACH?
Q: Now that I've registered, when will I hear from my coach?
A: You should hear from your coach by phone, email, or both anytime from the Tuesday to the Saturday before Uniform Night. Coaches will receive their team rosters at the scheduled OGS Coaches' Meeting a ful Tuesday week before the scheduled Uniform Night. To find out when Uniform Night is, hover over the "Sports/Clinics" tab at the top of the page then select the sport of choice. Their you'll find important seasonal details.
WHAT INFORMATION SHOULD MY COACH CONVEY?
Q: When my coach calls, what information should he/she relay?
A: Each coach should leave 1.) his/her name 2.) coach's contact information 3.) your child's team name 4.) your child's Uniform Night team time 5.) the Uniform Night location. Any additional information may be considered a bonus.
WHAT IS UNIFORM NIGHT?
Q: What is Uniform Night?
A: Uniform Night is a scheduled night when all players, parents, and coaches come together at each team's appointed time to receive the player's uniform, schedule, and any other information needed for the upcoming season. Uniform Night is also a time when families can purchase sport equipment. Play It Again Sports, a local sports store and an MVP Corporate sponsor of One Goal Sports sets up at our Uniform Nights during our soccer and summer seasons to make it an easy one-stop-shop. They even help our participants by honoring a .01cent tax night on all gear.
